Timothy Eugene Scott (born September 19, 1965) is an American businessman and politician serving as the junior United States senator from South Carolina since 2013. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as a Charleston city councilor, a state representative, and a U.S. Representative. He also worked in financial services before entering politics.
Scott served on the Charleston County Council from 1995 to 2009. He then served in the South Carolina General Assembly from 2009 to 2011, and represented South Carolina’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013.

It’s been a whirlwind few days for Mr. Scott, whose endorsement of former President Donald J. Trump at a New Hampshire rally on Friday renewed talk about his consideration as a running mate, should Mr. Trump win the Republican nomination.
“I’ve been very patient and prayerful, and I’m really excited and somewhat nervous,” Scott told the Washington Post.
Scott said he asked Noce’s parents for permission to marry her two weeks before Christmas. He then spent a whole month planning his proposal. Scott said he had approached her parents about two weeks before Christmas to ask for their blessing. With their approval, he set about planning the proposal. One of his friends rejected an early idea of proposing after a pickleball game, a hobby that both of them enjoy, he said.

He settled on a sunset proposal on Kiawah Island, prompting a long drive Saturday to the frigid beach. He described awkwardly trying to dissuade her from wearing gloves when they walked out on the sand, and positioned someone to take a photograph of the event.
Scott said it was difficult to persuade Noce not to wear gloves on Kiawah Island since the weather was cold. “My joke is as soon as I saw her picture, I figured it out. But the truth is about two weeks into it, I knew there was something very different about her and her faith,” Scott said.
The evangelical politician also captioned the photos with a bible verse from the Book of Proverbs. Politico described Noce as a “Charleston-area interior designer and mother of three” after she appeared with Scott at a November event shortly before the senator suspended his brief bid for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination. Scott said at the time he’d been dating Noce for about a year.
Trump and Haley will face off in South Carolina’s Republican primary next month. There’s speculation Trump could reward Timothy Eugene Scott’s loyalty by making the North Charleston, N.C. native his vice presidential nominee.
Timothy Eugene Scott endorsed former President Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination last week, bucking fellow Palmetto native former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley. The pair is set to face off in the South Carolina primary on Feb. 24.
